Singapore-born Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan, whose bestseller spawned the highest-grossing romantic comedy of the last decade, topped ST Life's list of shook up the arts, entertainment and lifestyle scenes here this year. NTU's head of sociology Assoc Prof Teo You Yenn, is at No. 3. Her book, This Is What Inequality Looks Like, which challenges assumptions about poverty in Singapore, has spent more than 30 weeks on ST’s non-fiction bestseller list and sold more than 20,000 copies. It sparked a national conversation about socio-economic inequality in Singapore and the best way to help the poor.
