Waste management is a severe but solvable environmental problem, so long as we approach it rationally. This calls for understanding the costs and benefits of our actions so we make choices that yield the highest net benefits, wrote NTU lead of economics Prof Euston Quah, and economics teacher Christabelle Soh. By understanding the context-specific benefits and costs of our actions, we can minimise the environmental impact of consumption.
