​PPGA student bags Best Speaker Award at Singapore Model Parliament 2018​​

Second year Public Policy and Global Affairs student, Fan Wei Liat Egwin, recently clinched Best Speaker Award at the Singapore Model Parliament (SMP) 2018 on February 3. 

Egwin represented as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, debating the implementation of an e-commerce tax. He received the award from Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Ministry of Defence. 

“Personally, I have always been interested in how the government can help to improve the lives of others,” Egwin said. He added that he is considering a career in Public Service as well. He has previously he received Cabinet Best Speaker Award at the Singapore Model Cabinet 2017, and was a finalist in the Public Service Division Public Policy Challenge 2016.

The SMP is organised by REACH (Reaching Everyone for Active Citizentry @ Home) in collaboration with the Association for Public Affairs (APA), the National University of Singapore Students’ Political Association (NUSPA), the National Library Board (NLB), and the Parliament of Singapore. The event aims to allow student-participants to appreciate the policy feedback, formulation, legisalation and implementation processes.
