Governments have consulted constitutional experts to ask what would happen to the election if Trump cannot recover in time, or if his condition worsens. Asst Prof Dylan Loh from NTU felt that the “best outcome” would be for Trump to make a speedy recovery. “I think of greater concern would be the uncertainty that may arise if a leadership vacuum appears but that is of course premature, given that Trump has stressed repeatedly that it is business as usual with him in charge,” he said.
