At the Singapore Economic Review Conference organised by NTU, Education Minister Ong Ye Kung said innovation-driven economic growth needs to benefit the whole of society and not just a small group of people who are well-versed in technology. Prof Euston Quah, head of the Economics Programme at NTU, said economists analyse the impact of world dynamics on Singapore and Asian countries, allowing the governments to formulate policies in affected areas. Economics professor Prof Tan Kong Yam from NTU predicted that the world would be dominated by two large economies—US and China--in the next 15 to 20 years. The three-day biennial conference had attracted 330 economists, industry players and policy makers from 40 countries.
